New Yellowstone Exhibits Greet Airline Travelers
A permanent installation of interactive, educational exhibits about Yellowstone was unveiled on October 15, 2012 at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. The Yellowstone Park Foundation and its partners have created Destination Yellowstone, a unique collection of inspirational and practical resources for park-bound visitors arriving at this important gateway to Yellowstone National Park. From a live view of Old Faithful, to ranger-hosted videos, to animal track casts, travelers can now begin their Yellowstone experience as soon as they land.
Destination Yellowstone is the result of a partnership between the Yellowstone Park Foundation (YPF), Yellowstone Association (YA), Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, and Yellowstone National Park.
As Yellowstone National Park's two primary nonprofit partners, YPF provided $150,000 in funding for the exhibits, and YA provided $170,000 in funding for a retail store and information desk.
"We want Destination Yellowstone to welcome visitors to our area with entertaining and educational information that will help them have a trip of a lifetime to one of the world's most treasured places, Yellowstone National Park," said Karen Bates Kress, Yellowstone Park Foundation president.
“Destination Yellowstone is a great asset to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport,” said Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk, who was one of the presenters at the event. “These new exhibits will provide more understanding of Yellowstone National Park, and enrich many travelers’ visits to Yellowstone.”
Additional presenters representing project partners included YPF President Karen Bates Kress, YPF Special Projects Manager Matt Wren, Deputy Airport Director Scott Humphrey, and YA Director of Sales and Marketing Daniel Bierschwale. Remarks were also made by Brianne Dugan, deputy state director for Montana Senator Max Baucus, and Jennifer Madgic, field director for Montana Senator John Tester.
