1872 Society Event Planned for September 2011 in Yellowstone

Yellowstone Lake, Photo by Tom MurphyOn September 16-18, 2011, the Yellowstone Park Foundation will host a special, fun-filled weekend event for supporters at the $1,000+ level, including members of YPF’s 1872 Society.  

Guests will stay at either the Lake Lodge or the Lake Yellowstone Hotel and will enjoy all the activities and breathtaking scenery the Yellowstone Lake area offers.

There will be plenty of time throughout the weekend for you to connect with friends -- old and new -- who share your passion for Yellowstone, while you surround yourselves with the beauty of Yellowstone Lake in the autumn.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, September 16:

  • 6:00 p.m. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Lake Ranger Station.
  • 7:00 p.m. Welcome remarks and a private dinner in the Lake Lodge Recreation Hall.
  • Presentation by wildlife photographer, Tom Murphy, 32 Years of Backcountry Skiing in Yellowstone.

Saturday, September 17:

  • Early morning wildlife-viewing trip to the Hayden or Lamar Valley.
  • After breakfast, enjoy a selection of daytime activities with a break for lunch. 
  • Activities include:  guided walking tours, historic yellow bus tour, fly fishing, kayaking, hiking or Yellowstone Lake boat tour.
  • 6:00 p.m. Cocktails and banquet dinner with special guest speakers Tweed Roosevelt and Winthrop Roosevelt, great-grandson and great-great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt.
  • Special auction opportunity: Renowned artist JD Miller is creating an original Yellowstone oil painting that will be auctioned during the banquet dinner. All proceeds will benefit YPF. 

Sunday, September 18:

  • 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. Continental breakfast and departure, or leisure time in the Park

Price per person is $300 for all meals and activities.  Guests are responsible for transportation and lodging.
