Park Priority - Lake Trout Suppression Report

Gill netting for lake trout

October 2013 marked the end of another season of lake trout suppression efforts as part of the ongoing Native Fish Conservation Program.  Highlights of the season include:

-removal of more than 300,000 lake trout

-one additional gill netting boat and contract crew

-increased numbers of immature cutthroat trout caught and observed

Efforts for this campaign are ongoing.  Help save Yellowstone's cutthroat trout by supporting the program to eliminate non-native predatory lake trout and keep Yellowstone's ecosystem intact by visiting

  Yellowstone in your Community

The beauty of Yellowstone is often found on display outside of the park.  The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, MT is exhibiting Welcome to Yellowstone! - Tourism in America's First National Park.

The Denver Art Museum is exhibiting a collection of Thomas Moran's chromolithographs, watercolors, drawings, and oil paintings.  This collection is part of the exhibition, Thomas Moran's Yellowstone: A Project for the Nation.
