Daly Creek Trail Restoration

The Daly Creek Trail, located in the Northwest corner of Yellowstone, is a highly popular trail that provides hikers and stock users a travel thoroughfare from US Highway 191 through the Gallatin Mountains to US Highway 89 in Paradise Valley. The trail lies in the heart of the Gallatin Petrified Forest and crosses the Continental Divide, offering close views of large, ancient Cypress trees and a 360-degree view of multiple mountain ranges in Montana and Wyoming. The Daly Creek Trail was created by people using game trails that followed the path of least resistance through wet, boggy areas and up steep inclines. Over the years, excessive trail and resource damage had occurred due to poor drainage, erosion, multiple-rutting, and trampled vegetation. Funds for this project were spent on trail rehabilitation and the repair of large-scale damage.
