Old Faithful Visitor Education Center

The current visitor center at Old Faithful is located adjacent to the icon of the National Park movement: Old Faithful Geyser. Nearly 3,000,000 people visit Old Faithful every year. Unfortunately, the existing Old Faithful Visitor Center is poorly located, poorly designed, has no interpretive exhibits, and does little to enhance the visitor experience. Even though there are more geysers and hot springs in Yellowstone than in the rest of the world combined, most visitors leave the park without a basic understanding of the rare and precious geysers they see or the volcanic activity beneath the surface. The Yellowstone Park Foundation raised $15,000,000 to help build a new Old Faithful Visitor Education Center that will enhance the experience of visitors and their understanding of Yellowstone National Park in ways that are beyond the financial capacity of the National Park Service. Ground breaking for the new building is scheduled for 2006.

Total Project Cost: $15,000,000
