Firefighting Equipment Support

Yellowstone National Park’s unique cultural resources include 50 National Historic Landmarks and more than 680 significant and historic structures. The Yellowstone Fire Suppression Department is responsible for protecting more than 1,500 structures, including numerous hotels, restaurants, stores, and visitor centers, connected by over 300 miles of roads throughout the Park. Responding to more than 500 fire-related emergencies in the Park and surrounding communities each year, it is imperative that Yellowstone’s firefighters have the equipment they need. However, the hoses and nozzles now in use by firefighters have failed routine equipment tests. Available resources cannot replace all the hoses and nozzles in the Park, yet it is vital that modern and functional fire fighting equipment be available throughout Yellowstone. Funding for this project will replace weakened and damaged fire hoses and old, inefficient nozzles in all of the Park’s fire engines

Total Project Cost: $37,780

Funds Still Needed: $33,780
